Announcing Gandy Digital to Its Wide-Format Lineup

Agreement to become Southeast’s exclusive distributor for global print manufacturer strengthens company’s wide-format offering with UV, dye-sublimation and solvent printers

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Oct. 7, 2015) – Mac Papers announced today that it is a full-line distributor of Gandy Digital, a global print manufacturer that specializes in large-format digital print production. The agreement solidifies Mac Papers as the exclusive distributor of Gandy Digital’s complete equipment line to customers across the Southeastern U.S.

The addition of Gandy Digital’s line augments Mac Papers’ wide-format offering across several segments, including UV, dye-sublimation and solvent. Mac Papers now offers Gandy Digital’s range of UV hybrids, UV high-capacity production printers, direct-to-textile dye-sublimation printers and roll-to-roll printers. Additionally, the company now carries Gandy Digital’s full line of proprietary inks, which use the lowest volume per square foot in the industry.

“Our relationship with Gandy Digital aligns with Mac Papers’ long-term strategy of offering a full lineup of solutions in every wide-format segment,” said Marty Davis, Director of Wide Format & Graphics. “Delivering Gandy Digital’s innovative print technology through our distribution network and service offering further legitimizes Mac Papers as a leading partner for entry-level through high-volume print providers.”

The agreement underscores Mac Papers’ commitment to becoming the premier distributor for the commercial print industry. It follows September’s announcement of Mimaki and the 2014 additions of Mutoh and Kodak as new equipment and material suppliers.

“Gandy Digital is proud to partner with Mac Papers in the Southeastern U.S and add our lineup of flatbed, hybrid, textile, and roll-to-roll printers to its portfolio,” said Hary Gandy, President Gandy Digital. “Printers today want to expand their business opportunities and grow into new markets through wide format. We look forward to delivering them cutting-edge technology through Mac Papers’ logistics platform.”

Along with participating in a full Gandy Digital training program, Mac Papers technicians and wide-format specialists will provide on-site installation and workflow expertise. In addition, Mac Papers offers a wide range of substrates compatible with Gandy Digital’s equipment including rigid materials, banner rolls and fabrics.

Announcing Acquisition of Packaging Professionals, Inc.

Second acquisition of packaging company this year grows team of in-market experts and demonstrates long-term commitment to the greater Nashville area

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (June 1, 2015) – Mac Papers, one of the largest merchant distributors in the Southeast U.S., announced today that it completed its acquisition of substantially all the assets of Packaging Professionals, Inc., a distributor of packaging materials and equipment in Lewisburg, Tennessee. The purchase reinforces Mac Papers’ commitment to the greater Nashville market and further adds expertise to its team of packaging specialists. All Packaging Professionals employees have joined Mac Papers as part of the transaction. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

The acquisition is Mac Papers’ latest in a series of activities targeting the packaging industry in the Nashville area. Since entering the market in 2012, Mac Papers has created a strategic growth plan for the region, which included hiring a local sales and distribution team, growth by acquisition and building a new distribution center. In February, Mac Papers completed the acquisition of Boxes Etc. II, a Nashville-based packaging company. In April, it announced plans to build a new distribution center in Antioch – a 120,653-square-foot facility with retail, office and warehouse space scheduled to open in 2016.

“Our continued momentum in the Nashville area is the result of our long-term commitment to this market and our passion to be the leading distribution partner that Nashville businesses know, trust and value,” said Sutton McGehee, Chairman and CEO of Mac Papers. “Adding the Packaging Professionals team to our Nashville operation shows that Mac Papers is just as committed to growing our presence in Nashville as it is to reinforcing our expertise in packaging.”

Founded in 1992, Packaging Professionals specializes in providing polyolefin shrink film and equipment. The company’s six packaging experts also bring expertise in stretch wrap and stretch wrap equipment, paper and poly bags, hand stretch film, strapping, carton sealing and specialty tapes, cushioning and void fill, custom boxes, and single-face corrugated.

The staff at Packaging Professionals will be immediately integrated into Mac Papers’ Nashville packaging team. As a result, area customers will have access to Mac Papers’ increased product offering from premier suppliers, expert packaging solutions from local specialists, and enhanced customer service.

Beyond the Nashville market, the addition of Packaging Professionals bolsters Mac Papers’ packaging line of business by adding materials and equipment to its distribution network of 22 locations and 18 retail stores throughout the Southeast. Packaging is an increasing segment of net sales across the company, and the additional expertise and relationships to best-in-class suppliers will continue that trajectory. This acquisition further solidifies Mac Papers as a key player in packaging throughout the Southeast.

New Distribution Center Planned for Nashville

A 120,653-square foot facility with retail, office and warehouse space scheduled to open in 2016, enhancing offering to Nashville businesses

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (April 23, 2015) – Mac Papers, one of the largest merchant distributors in the Southeast U.S., continued its growth in the Nashville market today with the announcement of plans for a new distribution center in Antioch. The facility includes more than 120,000 square feet of retail, office and warehouse space and is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2016. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

The 120,653-square foot multi-use facility will be constructed on a 12.64-acre lot the company purchased in April at The Crossings at Hickory Hollow. Nearly 110,000 square feet will be warehouse space, enabling Mac Papers to stock a deeper inventory of the company’s paper and print, packaging, facility supplies and office products business and offer same-day or next-day delivery on a wider range of products to Nashville businesses. The distribution center will house 30 employees, including Mac Papers’ local sales force, customer service, warehouse operations and drivers.

As part of this new facility, Mac Papers will also open a retail store, offering a wide range of cut-size papers for laser and ink jet copiers, wide format and graphics supplies, packaging materials and more.

“Delivering value to Nashville’s business community is a top priority for Mac Papers and our continued investment in this market underscores this commitment to local customers,” said Sutton McGehee, Chairman and CEO of Mac Papers. “As our business has continued to grow here, both organically and through acquisition, it’s time to invest in a larger, full-spectrum facility that affords a larger warehouse with deeper inventory, a convenient retail experience and a permanent home for our growing sales and service team.”

Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Mac Papers entered the Nashville market in 2012. Since then, the company has launched a strategic growth plan for the region, which included hiring a local sales and distribution team, acquiring local competition and building its new distribution center. This news follows the company’s announcement in February that it completed the acquisition of Boxes Etc. II, a Nashville-based packaging company.

This is the first new distribution center that Mac Papers has constructed since its addition of a location in Little Rock, Arkansas, in January 2013.

Mac Papers and Packaging Unveils New Corporate Branding

Renewed corporate identity highlights evolution of 50-year-old, family-owned company into leading merchant distributor with four distinct lines of business

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (March 10, 2015) – Mac Papers, one of the largest merchant distributors in the Southeast U.S., today unveiled a new corporate brand that reaffirms the company’s position in the marketplace and positions it for future success. The company is now a distribution partner with four lines of business, giving customers the best value in paper and print, packaging, facility supplies and office products.

The brand reflects a comprehensive reframing of Mac Papers’ corporate vision and business offering. It is the result of an evolution that began nearly a decade ago, as the company spent several years expanding into additional industrial products, equipment and services that complement its traditional business.

“This is an unprecedented time for Mac Papers,” said Sutton McGehee, Chairman and CEO of Mac Papers. “We used to say, ‘Paper is all we do,’ but that is no longer the case. Mac Papers now serves its customers with innovative ideas across all four lines of business. While our new brand stays true to the values and service that remain central to the company, it’s time to tell a new story about what Mac Papers is today.”

The company has a new logo, tagline and visual identity after an 18-month planning and execution process that included investing significant resources researching how to improve Mac Papers’ positioning in today’s market.

“This is the first rebrand in the company’s 50-year history, and it’s a vital part of our strategic vision for the next 50,” said Ray McGehee, Director of Marketing and Communications at Mac Papers. “The new brand honors our company’s heritage – the values, tradition and family that founded Mac Papers – while showcasing the innovation, drive and diversification that is shaping its future.”

The logo is a visual representation of the Mac Papers evolution. Features of the new logo include:

  • The “M”: The Mac Papers “M” is iconic and the decision to keep it in the logo was easy. But it was time to update it with a more modern and refreshed look.
  • The colors: The colors reflect Mac Papers’ core values. The main blue is associated with stability and reliability, and implies leadership, confidence and tradition. The greens reflect truth and peace of mind.
  • The lines: Mac Papers now encompasses four lines of business: Paper & Print, Packaging, Facilities Supplies and Office Products. Each line of business is represented by a line, and they come together to create the new “M.”
  • The diagonal: This visually reinforces that Mac Papers is now a multi-faceted distribution business that serves customers across a range of industries.
  • The history: The logo’s center line is the same teal from the original Mac Papers logo. It is at the heart of the new “M” to demonstrate that heritage and tradition is still at the center of the company.

Mac Papers also unveiled its new tagline, “Ideas to power your business,” to reinforce that Mac Papers offers more value than the products it sells. Whether it’s working with expert engineers or using tools like e-commerce and Just In Time delivery, Mac Papers is delivering ideas to our customers that save money and increase efficiency.

The letters that make up “Ideas” in the tagline are a commitment Mac Papers makes to its customers every day. They are:

  • I – Innovation: To meet changing needs in an evolving marketplace
  • D – Diversification: To deliver a broader range of products and services
  • E – Efficiency: To simplify processes and improve the bottom line for customers
  • A – Agility: To respond with local distribution, decision-making and support
  • S – Service: To demonstrate the value of local expertise and reliability

Mac Papers today unveiled a range of branded assets, including a new corporate website, new printed corporate collateral. Signage on its 22 locations and 18 stores in nine Southeastern states, along with its 150 trucks, will be updated this month. More than 700 corporate assets will be rebranded by year’s end.
