Proud to Be Named CET Color’s Major Distributor across Southeast

Strengthens growing offering of print equipment for sign and display customers

Jacksonville, Fla. (January 04, 2017)Mac Papers, one of the largest industrial distributors in the Southeast, today announced that it has been named by CET Color, an award-winning manufacturer of digital UV wide-format printers and cutters, as a major distributor of its full line of equipment across the Southeast.

The agreement, effective October 1, 2016, aims to expand the range and sophistication of Mac Papers’ UV print equipment portfolio by adding a high-production line of affordable UV hybrid and flatbed printers. CET Color’s large-format vacuum table flatbed and hybrid roll-to-roll/flatbed UV printers utilize state-of-the-art UV curable ink sets that provide environmentally-friendly options to print on a wide range of substrates with a range of customizable, field-upgradable and easily maintained printer options.

“Because UV printing is the fastest-growing segment of our wide format business, and presents one of the biggest growth opportunities for our customers, the best value we provide as a distributor is the widest range of top UV printer options,” said Marty Davis, director of wide format & graphics. “Adding CET Color’s full line opens up new print potential and capabilities that give commercial printers more options to exceed customer expectations than ever before.”

The agreement furthers Mac Papers’ commitment to becoming the premier distributor for the commercial print industry, a company priority that was established in 2013. In 2014, the company signed on Mutoh and Kodak to its wide format lineup and then added Mimaki and Gandy Digital in 2015.

“We were searching for a partner with a solid reputation and a wide range of knowledge base in their industry,” said Javier Mahmoud, vice president of sales and marketing for CET Color. “Mac Papers is a perfect fit because of the company’s well-known expertise in the field of offset printing, and CET wants to align with a distributor of that caliber. This partnership benefits both companies by affording us the opportunity to expand our customer bases into new markets with which we haven’t previously connected.”

After participating in full-scale CET Color training program in January, Mac Papers technicians and wide-format specialists will be equipped to provide on-site installation and workflow expertise. In addition, Mac Papers offers a wide range of substrates compatible with CET Color’s equipment including rigid materials, banner rolls and vinyl.

Mac Papers Envelope Converters Honored with Five FTA Awards for Excellence

Company received the Gold & Best of Show Award for Third-Consecutive Year; Captures Every Award Possible in the Process, Uncoated Paper Category

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (March 28, 2016) – Mac Papers Envelope Converters (MPEC), a Jacksonville, Fla.-based sister company of Mac Papers, Inc., has been honored by the Flexographic Technology Association (FTA) with five 2016 FTA Awards in recognition of envelope print excellence. The awards were issued during the organization’s 2016 FTA Award Show, held last week in Fort Worth, Texas.

“MPEC is honored to accept all of these awards – but particularly excited to receive the Best in Show award for a third year in a row and to have swept the Envelope, Process, Uncoated category,” explained MPEC’s Bob Thole, director of sales. “This recognition is a testament to the fact that MPEC has some of the most talented envelope technicians and the very best pre-press and envelope-folding equipment in the industry, as well as some of the highest standards. Our techniques allow us to offer customers the fastest production times at the lowest cost point, with the highest quality possible. There is no other company that can offer all three of these benefits, and we’re thrilled by the recognition.”

The Gold & Best of Show, is the highest award per category given by the FTA, and marks the third-consecutive year MPEC has earned the recognition. Of the 110 awards given this year, only six print categories received Gold & Best of Show awards. This year, MPEC was honored as such in the Envelope, Process, Uncoated category for its Business is Blooming envelope, developed for Domtar. A judge commented that the design had “extremely clean, solid (four-color process build) on [the] back, along with [an] extremely tight registration – note the small reverses out of the four-color process. High impact, exceptionally attractive and [a] well-executed piece.”

In addition to this top honor, MPEC also took home the Silver and Bronze awards, making the company the only recipient of every award possible in this category. The Silver award was given for the company’s Piedmont Luxury Hotel envelope. One judge noted that the “fades and tonal range made this piece a stand-out. [It has] extremely fine screens going to white; no hard breaks.” The Bronze award went to the Dish Multi-Sport Pack envelope that, according to a judge, had “exceptional solid ink density and consistency. Good tonal range and registration.”

In the Envelope, Screen, Uncoated category, MPEC was also issued Silver and Bronze awards, for its National American Miss and Suddenlink This Month on Demand envelopes, respectively.  A judge commented that the National Miss envelope “… [had very] tight registration elements on multiple colors, along with holding small reverses cleanly open.” Another said of the Suddenlink product that it had “good, solid ink density on blue, sharp type and good tonal range in the black vignettes.”

MPEC uses the most advanced web envelope-converting technology, allowing for products to be sheeted, printed, cut, folded, glued and finished in one run on a single folding machine, without interruption. Because in-line envelope conversion can be more challenging than using multiple machines for each step, a high level of skill and advanced equipment is required. Achieving tight registration, as mentioned by the judges above, is a skill that yields crisp printing and easy-to-read reverse text on a colored background.

Named One of the 2016 Best Places to Work

The Jacksonville Business Journal announced this week that it has named Mac Papers as one of Jacksonville’s 2016 Best Places to Work. Mac Papers has been selected, along with eight other local organizations, after an independent, national research firm, Quantum Workplace, revealed that the company has one of the more interesting workplaces and one of the best cultures, as well as some of the happiest employees, along the First Coast, as determined by a survey of employees within the company’s headquarters and the Jacksonville branch.

In January, Quantum Workplace anonymously surveyed hundreds of Jacksonville companies’ employees about their experiences working for the organizations. The results showed that Mac Papers rose to the top in the large category, which includes companies comprised of 100 to 249 local employees in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Business Journal noted on its website that the award “is a true testimony to the culture and work place that has been created at these businesses.”

“Providing excellent experiences for our customers begins with providing an excellent environment for our employees,” said Sutton McGehee, chairman and CEO of Mac Papers. “Mac Papers is honored and humbled to receive this employee-driven recognition, in part because we understand that our employees are our single-greatest asset. This award is a testament to the strong company culture we’ve built for the past 51 years, where employees feel motivated, valued and committed to driving great results for our customers.”

The Jacksonville Business Journal will honor each recipient during an upcoming Best Places to Work awards breakfast, scheduled for Tues., March 22, at the Omni Jacksonville (245 Water Street). Following the breakfast, the journal will also publicize the results in a special Best Places to Work awards section of the March 25 issue.
